Artificial sweeteners are low calorie or calorie free chemical substances that are used instead of sugar to sweeten food or drinks. Commonly used are saccharine, Aspartame, sucralose etc.
Many people replace sugar with artificial sweeteners in the belief that this will reduce their calorie intake and cause weight loss. Instead they can increase appetite and maintain cravings for sweet food which actually helps to gain weight and obesity.

Along with these symptoms, Aspartame can be responsible for fibromyalgia, spasms, shooting pains, numbness in legs, cramps, tinnitus, joint pain, unexplainable depression, slurred speech, multiple sclerosis, systemic lupus and various cancers.

A pregnant woman must avoid these because saccharine crosses placenta and fetal bladder may be exposed for a longer time and can cause bladder cancer.
